Counsellors offering this service have specific training in working with children or youth.

Price varies by the treatment length and the professional staff member selected

For the first session guardians with a child/adolescent who can wait independently in the waiting room, or who have another caregiver present, please book an initial 90 minute initial session so that we can speak with you during the first part of the session. Guardians with younger children, or those who cannot wait independently please book a separate parent consult followed by a counselling session for your child or youth at a later time. Older youth may not require a full parent consult and that is at your discretion.

Unless a youth is designated as a mature minor parents must sign consent in the first session; guardians who are separated/divorced will both be required to consent unless a court order is in place allowing only one parent to do so.

Please call with queries about consent in cases of parents who do not reside together, or children over 15 who may be considered a mature minor.

Karma Counselling Program

Please note: Zelda meets clients primarily via teleconference from November through April.

Zelda Kause is a Registered Psychologist with over 20 years experience in the field of mental health. Her background as a Pharmacist gives her a unique perspective on mental health.

One of her favourite quotes is: “Life’s not about waiting for the storm to pass …. It’s about learning to dance in the rain.”

She welcomes the opportunity to dance in the rain with you … to explore the storms that have marred your life and prevented you from knowing joy. To help you discover the beauty in the storm, and perhaps more importantly, become empowered to weather present and future storms.

Her education and experiences have prepared her to walk with you. She has a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy, Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, is a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists, is educated as a Marriage and Family Therapist and trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). She has worked in a variety of health care settings, including Royal Alexandra Hospital, Alberta Hospital, Riseup House for women impacted by domestic violence, and volunteered at Inner City Organizations.

However, she states that life experiences may have been her greatest education, having experienced enough personal heartache to keep her humble, and seen enough changes in life situations to keep her hopeful. Personal pain takes many forms: relationships that are a little off, and need realignment, or completely broken requiring redesign. This pain may take the form of depression, anxiety, confusion, hopelessness, discouragement, loneliness, grief, fear, night terrors, or traumatic memories that will not be stilled. Her education and experience have prepared her to explore solutions with you.

Kelly is a Registered Provisional Psychologist with Aspire Counselling and Psychology. She completed her master’s degree with a specialization in Counselling Psychology. Kelly provides individual psychotherapy to children, adolescents, adults, and seniors, as well as with couples and families within Parkland County and surrounding areas.

Kelly’s professional accomplishments prior to working with Aspire shaped her to become a well-rounded teacher, autism consultant, and Indigenous family liaison. She is highly skilled in building trusting connections with neurodiverse individuals and with those seeking support to improve day-to-day life for themselves and their families.

Kelly works from a positive psychology, client-centered perspective, believing that each client holds the key to become their best self. The therapist’s role is to act as a non-judgmental guide who supports clients to use their inner resources to overcome challenges, understand and recognize areas for growth and work towards building a greater sense of wellbeing. Kelly tailors sessions to meet the needs of each individual. She embeds techniques and exercises from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Somatic Based Therapy, which indicates how closely intertwined our feelings, beliefs, attitudes, and physical well-being are based on the latest biomedical research.

Kelly is a passionate advocate in breaking down the barriers and stigma around accessing mental health supports, specifically when around men and from older generations seeking counseling. She makes it no secret that her interest in psychology stems from her own experiences in the client chair and the positive impact that made in her life. Kelly’s areas of special interest include working with people with ADHD, depression, anger, anxiety, grief, and trauma. Additionally, Kelly’s focus includes working with clients with developmental differences and their loved ones, as well as intimacy and relationship concerns. Furthermore, Kelly is passionate about her work with supporting Indigenous people, their families and their communities.

If you are looking for a therapist who is honest, direct, and genuine, to walk with you through the ups and downs life throws at you and support you to reach your wellness goals Kelly may be the perfect match for you.
